Lull Shopping

Today our search for a lull has ended.  We took a trip out to Groton to look at a 1975 Lull.  Most of the ones that we had seen online were pretty expensive, this one was only$2500.

Everything runs fine, the arm extends up and out around 25 feet.  The tires are in good shape, the engine sounds good, and the frame didn’t appear to have any rust.

It took a few minutes to pull it out of the spot it had been parked for the winter.  We cut a check to the owner, and we now own a Lull.  The only trick now will be to get it trucked back to Wilmot.  With roads being posted we will have to get permission from the town and from the state.

  1. tHEY CAN LOG WITH BIG TRAILERS, BUT YOU CAN’T DROP OFF A TINY LULL? CAN YOU DRIVE THE LULL TO THE SITE? WILL ANYONE CARE OR NOTICE ANYWAY?

    • It’s illegal for log trucks over a certain weight to drive on posted roads. Different towns have different weight limits. The lull is 2 tons, and with the truck and trailer it gets over 6 tons, which is a limit on most posted roads. We could drive it to the state road, but it’s about 2 miles on the Groton side, and another 1.5 miles on the Wilmot side to the site. And after seeing how bad the roads today, I’m not sure I would want to drive the lull on them since it’s only 2 wheel drive.
